he Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks

by Rebecca Skloot

I read this for a book club meeting that I never made it to but had no idea about the subject of the book when I picked it up.  It was a little single-minded for my tastes and if it hadn't been on the list I never would have taken it home from the library but, even so, it had some interesting parts.  I am fascinated by race relations in the US and how they are developing still.  This book holds a place on a shelf of some obscure thought process regarding that - yes, we still are screwy with this topic.  Oh yes.

Wild: From lost to found on the Pacific Crest trail

by Cheryl Strayed

Loved this.  I keep thinking about who I would be out on the trail and this was a good, fun read for me.

Funny in Farsi: A Memoir of Growing up Iranian in America.

by Firoozeh Dumas

Captivated as I am by 2nd generation immigrant families and especially from Iran, this book didn't disappoint with its humorous reflections of a woman's life.  Fascinating at times and a quick read.

Poser: My Life in 23 Yoga Poses

by Clair Dederer

Interesting.  Yes, yoga is extremely helpful to many people but the hooplah surrounding it makes me cringe.  Reading this woman's account of yoga on her life in a few stages was a good read.  I'll go yoga when I am 50.  Until then, there is pilates.  And running.  :)

How to be a Woman

by Caitlin Moran

Wow.  Only a few chapters in and I definitely need to find a new word for my vagina.
Definitely.

The Particular Sadness of Lemon Cake

by Aimee Bender

Couldn't get past the first chapter.  I just took this Discovery course through Benchmark and wow, I hear the "I'm a Victim!" in everything and that is so not useful, productive, or good.

Cinderella Ate My Daughter

by Peggy Orenstein

Floor Sample: A Creative Memoir

Traveling With Pomegranates: A Mother-Daughter Story

By Sue Monk Kidd and Ann Kidd Taylor

Committed: A skeptic makes peace with marriage

by Elizabeth Gilbert

The second book after Eat, Pray, Love.  Boy, am I glad I never saw the movie on the first one.
This, however, was a fast, quick and slightly entertaining read.  Marriage is just another box and this box happens to reside on a roller coaster sometimes.
